A hot dog for an in-law?

Yesterday we were sitting at Costco eating lunch (pretty fair exchange...they get food, I get little complaining about errand running).

Gabe was snarfing down his Costco hot dog (as usual).

He pauses to breath and says to me,

"Mom...I think I'm falling in love with this hot dog."

(as immature as I am...I was thinking in my head, "Then why don't you marry it." I bit my tongue though.)

I think I actually laughed out loud...right there in Costco (which is pretty unusual for me because I am usually a way-too-serious-super-frazzled-mom-of-3-crazy-boys-and-one-sweet-baby)


He has some seriously fierce feelings for these Costco hot dogs and he's not afraid to voice them.

Truly inspired....

This morning I was able to feed the baby early and get out for a run. I have missed my early morning runs. There is something truly wonderful and peaceful about getting out in the quiet of the cool morning. No kids... little traffic... no music.... no distractions. I do some of my best praying during these times and often receive thoughts and impressions from the Lord. Nothing beats it. I have a few new recently inspired goals: 1. To BE STILL so that I can hear the promptings of the Holy Ghost more clearly (which is why I didn't listen to music on my brand new ipod while running this morning). I read a conference talk yesterday that emphasized the importance of detaching ourselves from media/technology and meditating, thus making it easier to hear the Holy Ghost, more often. 2. To write down thought/impressions/goals/feeling so that I am accountable for them and far more likely to follow them/remember them in the future. This advise came from a 18 year old girl who taught the Relief Society lesson on Sunday. She is obviously mature beyond her years and a great example to me. I'm grateful for a Heavenly Father who loves me and places people in my life to truly inspire and challenge me to be more Christlike.
